Utar to double capacity at Sungai Long campus

PETALING JAYA: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) will be doubling its capacity at the the Sungai Long campus to 12,000 students.
Utar council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik said the expansion was necessary due to the recently introduced medical degree programmes.
“A new block will be built to accommodate the increased student capacity from 6,000 to 12,000 students.
“Now the Sungai Long campus hosts only around 3,000 students as most courses have been transferred to the Kampar campus in Perak,” said Dr Ling, during the pre-launch of the Seventh Malaysia Festival of the Mind at Utar’s campus here yesterday.
He estimated the project would cost between RM80mil to RM90mil but no date has been set for construction to begin.
Utar will also be hosting the seventh edition of the festival at its Kuala Lumpur and Perak campuses.
